MA Fine Art graduate Thaleia Kavvada shows in Being Human at neo:gallery

Thaleia came to the UK in 2012 from Athens, Greece to complete her BA Hons Fine Art at the university. Since recently completing her MA in Fine Art, her artwork has been included in several group shows, including Dead Funny at Neo:gallery 27, Bolton (2015) and The Best of Bolton Fine Art at Forum of Young Art, Paderborn, Germany (2016)

In the summer she showed in the group exhibition “Being Human” at neo;gallery (2017) As a starting point for her work she referred to the poem “Preveza”, written by a Greek poet Kostas Karyotakiswhich examines the concept of existence. The installation she made for the show , critically commented on the drowning of thousands of Syrian refugees during 2016.

Thaleia held her first solo exhibition Without in Greece at the art multi-site Tiny Will in 2014. Her work explores the relationships between the concepts of life and death, memory and oblivion, through a variety of mediums and found objects; seeking to foster connective strands between art and contemporary life, taking a critical view of social and political issues.
