Lecturer Rebecca Sitar in exhibition at The Freelands Foundation, London 2019

Rebecca Sitar, lecturer in Fine Art was invited to participate in the fifth cycle of Fully Awake 5.6 at The Freelands Foundation, London in September. The group painting exhibition was co-curated by Ian Hartshorne and Sean Kaye exhibition. Fully Awake 5.6 was part of a cycle of exhibitions involving academics, artists and art educators in the UK that focuses on teaching painting.  Each invited artist was asked to invite two guest artists to show their work with. Rebecca was honored to have  Mali Morris RA and Susan Laughton as her guest artists. Their respective paintings can been seen in the photograph.

‘Fully Awake 5.6 is an exhibition that explores new ways to understand the development and variety of contemporary British painting. It offers an accessible but critically rigorous platform for audiences to better understand the impact that different generations of artists have upon one another. The exhibition embraces an intergenerational approach to celebrating the practice and teaching of painting, by including artists from a broad range of backgrounds and styles.’
