Artist Statement

For my Major Project, I have decided to look into the relationship between the mundane and the emotional. I began by looking at the way the lockdown had made me feel and how the room I had been confined to for so long stayed the same throughout. No matter how I felt, there would always be the same things.

I settled on lines as there were many objects, so different in use but the same nonetheless. There were perfect lines everywhere so I wanted to capture them in paint and have them grouped together. It led me to add prose to give more depth to the work, staying slightly mysterious yet personal no matter how the words or the visuals are perceived. Whether the meanings and depth are there or are added is up to the viewer to decide.
